Inspite of the number of students in schools in Rural Bihar being high, the quality of education remains poor. A class 5 student is not able to read properly and the only motivation for him to come to school remains the mid day meals. Lack of interest in education also results in drop out from schools.

The need of the hour thus is to make attending schools fun, and at the same time impart an education that goes beyond the traditional rote learning and create avenues for creative, experiential and collaborative learning, to improve the quality of education and motivation levels.

The project functions in the Kosi region of Bihar comprising of the districts of Saharsa, Madhepura, Khagaria, Supaul. These are also amongst the most backward districts in Bihar. The project is been running since the summer of 2008.

" Creativity is as important now in education as literacy and we should treat it with the same status. ― Ken Robinson "

The objectives of the Pick Me, Click Me, Educate Me! Project are :

  • To motivate children to attend schools.
  • To not stop at only motivation to join, but to motivate them higher to attend it regularly and not drop off at an early age.
  • To visit schools across small town and rural parts of Bihar & impart education outside the books, related to life skills, creative skills, basic health and career counseling.
  • To improve the quality of education by using alternative learning methods and creative learning.

" Studying in class 9, 10, or 11 in Government School should be from a financially needy family and Student should be motivated to do activities related to education and social upliftment "

When one talks about impact, one needs to answer from different view points.

  • How does the solution ensure a long lasting impact?

In this project, this can be done through a process of identifying local action officers in each individual communities (villages) who are able to create high impact and have more control over the masses who would listen to them, by virtue of being a local person.
  • How do you measure the social impact?
    • Betterment for the children
    • More involvement for the people
    • Spreading awareness through different media

" Whom is the impact taking place on? Who are the groups being impacted directly, and indirectly. Students, Teachers, Parents, Other members of the society."
